Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress, is known for her work in film and television in the latter half of the 1980s. Bassett has been awarded a variety of awards, like the Golden Globe Award as well as sixteen NAACP Image Award. Her work has been recognized for TV and film from the mid-80s onwards, she's won numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born in New York New York and fostered by an aunt in Winston-Salem North Carolina. The mother of Bassett had divorced from her father when she was approximately five. Her younger sister relocated to St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was inspired to become an actor after watching the production Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. She was a student at Yale University New Haven Connecticut earning a bachelor's diploma (1980) on African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she came across Courtney B. Vance a actress who was a friend of hers. They married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Degree in African-American Studies in the year 1980.
